Micro Cottage and Small Industries (MCSIs), also known as Micro Small and Medium Enterprises(MSMEs), constitute the backbone of national economies regardless of their development level. In Nepal, these industries are crucial, contributing 90% of the total industrial GDP, 70-80% of the industrial value addition, 80% of industrial employment, and 70% of total national exports. They are significant for their capacity to generate self-employment, especially in rural areas, using local raw materials and labor. Recognizing their importance, the Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) was established in 1990 to support and represent this sector.
